柳宗理のバタフライスツール Butterfly Chair of SORI YANAGI

柳宗理　Sori Yanagi

日本が誇る、世界的プロダクトデザイナーの柳宗理

今後紹介する、キッチン器具以外にも
地下鉄内のベンチや公園の看板などのデザインも手掛けている。

彼がデザインしたプロダクトの中で最も有名なのが
この「バタフライスツール」。

We're very proud of one Japanese product designer, Sori Yanagi.

He set out in design of kitchen utensils, benches in underground,
signboard in the park and so on.
What his the most famous product in the world 
is  THIS " Butterfly Chair".

この形は柳宗理が材料をいじっている時に自然と生まれたカタチだそう。

When he tinkered materials, it was  formed.

1957年にはこの作品が第１１回ミラノ・トリエンナーレで金賞受賞。

This product won a gold prize of Triennal of Milan in 1957.

この形、どんな座り心地かって、座ってみないと分からない、、


As long as you don't try to sit on it ,you wouldn't know how comfortable it is,,

その座り心地を試してみたい子が一人、いや一匹。

There's one boy,,no, one dog keens on sitting on it and 
finding how comfortable.

2011年に柳宗理氏が亡くなっても今なお世界中で愛され続けている
バタフライスツール。
見た目の奇抜さだけではなく、何よりも一番重要な座り心地の良さが
愛され続けている要因だと思う。

Though Mr. Sori Yanagi died in 2011, this chair is still loved all of the world.

This design looks unique, but above all, comfortable.

This is the reason why this chair keeps being loved.
